Does winning matter? 

There are those that say “winning isn’t everything” and those that also say “winning is everything”

The reality……

Winning and losing are part of life and part of business.

If you cannot differentiate between the two, you are going to get stuck in mediocrity, you will not make progress and you and your business won’t grow.

Business and life are both games and if you are going to play them well, then you need to learn what winning looks like, you need to understand the frustration of losing and what it takes to change the game and turn your results around.

There is no doubt, that if you are trying to win, you make more progress, far quicker than if you just let things take their own course.

I’m not a believer in winning at all costs or winning by making others lose.

I am a believer that winning is far better than losing and that you can, and should learn to win at the game of leadership, business, and life

Winning is a habit, losing is too!

If you want to change the game you have to learn to win

Here’s how:

Losing is usually a case of
* not enough skills (Work at improving your skills)
* not enough focus (Get really clear on what you want to achieve and what success looks like)
* not enough courage (Find the motivation to be bold enough to chase down your hopes and dreams)
* not enough accountability (Build an accountability system that ensures you get things done)

Overcome these and you’re on the path to winning

Winning is a case of
* competing (Be brave enough to challenge yourself against a scorecard)
* learning (Debrief your progress every week and map out what you need to learn to improve)
* discovery (Be prepared to experiment, test and try different ideas)
* execution (Do what you say you will do, when you said you would do it, every single time)
* attitude (Never accept average or the status quo)
* change (If nothing changes, nothing changes) read that one again 🙂

Get these right and you will learn to win, and winning makes leadership, business, and life far easier.

When you learn to win and can then teach it to others, you grow massively, you earn trust and respect and this cycle repeats itself again and again so that you move forward, make progress and get remarkable results. At the same time, your team grows and gets great results and ultimately the business does better on every level.

The reality is, winning matters. 

It’s a mindset, a strategy, and a core behaviour of every successful leader, every successful team, and every successful organisation.

When winning becomes a habit, you are on a path that is rewarding, satisfying. One that produces benefits you could never imagine.
